He is a bit unsure about school and he has just had hearing aids fitted for bad glue ear so I am giving him LOADS of understanding BUT my god, he is so so so rude at the moment. He is at his worst when friends come over, he is so excited they are here but becomes so horrid to his baby brother, shutting him out of the play, he has been so rude to me, physically agressive, shouting very emotional. Nothing is working. HELP!!

I can empathise. DS3 is starting at the school nursery next week (a few days older and he would be in reception). Despite having been in full time child care for the last year, it is obviously really unsettling him going back to something new in September. Because it is obviously school related nerves I know it will just be a phase (I hope Grin). So anytime he does anything vaguely good I am giving lots of positive reinforcement. Lots of hugs. It is working better than me getting wound up at his behaviour, even if it is just that I am calmer so he has less stress from my end.

Both my dc were quite badly behaved just before starting school and they improved significantly within a week of starting so with any luck the same may happen with you. Hang in there September is nearly here...

Thanks ladies, it must be horrible for them, this thing called 'september' keeps being talked about and he must be uneasy.
I just feel like I am ignoring too much.......but he could well be on the naughty step all day if I didnt!

My youngest is generally a sweet natured and well behaved child, this time last year just before starting school he was the complete opposite - he was almost impossible for a while. Once he was in school he turned back into the sweet little boy. I think he was subconsciously worried about starting school even though he was apparently fine about it.
