Anyone's baby vomit from teething?

DD (7 months) is teething at the moment. She vomited this morning and has had sicky burps for the past few days. She's reasonably happy in herself and doesn't have a fever. Was just wondering if this might be related to teething?

I suppose it doesnt really matter as I'll be treating her the same as if she has a bug anyway, but just wondered if anyone has children who vomit when they cut teeth?

My DS does - he's 20 months now and the main indicator that another tooth is coming is the return of refluxy sickness (he had reflux as a baby and was sick about 20 times a day up to 11mo). There's a clear difference between teething sickness and sick-bug sickness ime. The former tends to come up with burps and be thinner and more gelatinous (for want of a better word) - DS gets hiccups a lot when teething which brings the sick up sometimes. Sick bug sick is much fuller and there's usually much more of it. HTH

It could be linked to teething. My dd (16 months now) always gets a cold and cough when teething and tends to throw up her bedtime milk! She's only got 4 more teeth to go thank goodness!!!!

My DD always seemed to vomit (usually at night) when teething - I think she used to feed lots and lots to try and soothe the discomfort, but end up over filling herself and being sick - then wanting to feed (as she was all empty) and thus, repeating the pattern! I was always amazed at how much liquid came out from this little person - all over me, the bed, herself, bleurgh.

Mine vomits all the time but he is cutting his first tooth and has been doing even more vomit that usual including some rather wonderful projectile exorcist vomit.

DS2 used to do this and I think it is related to the amount of saliva they produce when they are teething.

Same situation as suburban here.

DS had reflux when he was tiny, which diminished from about 12 mo. However when his teeth are bad the increased saliva does seem to increase his stomach acid. He gets a touch of reflux, and teething is the only time he gets any nappy rash.

thanks all. Sadly I think I'll have to accept she has a bug. She's not kept anything down at all today, including a spectacular Exorcist-style vim session all over her brother's bed at bedtime. I've run out of space to dry bedding/clothes!

And there goes my weekend away without DCs but with DH at his friend's wedding . Would have been out first night alone in over 18 months .

How's your baby today?

Trazzletoes · 31/08/2012 12:33

Well, she hasn't been sick YET but keeps retching. Still feels warm and the only thing she can keep down is breast milk, which is good in that it's obviously the best thing I can give her but definitely no weekend away for me now. Ah well. Think the DCs and I will have a Fireman Sam marathon instead Grin
