Hello, my girl is 2 months old she was getting more alert and awake by the day until recently: in the last couple days she's gone back to sleeping nearly all day and night just like when she was a newborn. I am worried, is this normal? why her awake hours reduced again?

If she's not running a temperature, or seeming unwell, then it sounds as though she's going through a growth spurt. These can last up to a week by the way.
Small child here has a pattern of two - three days with needing a lot of sleep, but not much food followed by three - four days of eating huge amounts to catch up on missed food along with not a lot of sleep. After that everything reverts to normal patterns until the next growth spurt.

Everything moon has said. Enjoy the peace before the sleepless nights return!

My DS2 is now 21 months, and still sleeps a LOT. The days he's at nursery, he doesnt sleep at all, so catches up on other days. On my days off he sleeps at least 3hrs in the afternoon and at least 13hrs at night, bless him.
He has always slept a lot. At 2m he would be awake for less than an hour, then he'd be yawning and needing to sleep again.
I am still convinced that is why he was a late walker - cos he was never awake long enough to practise :)

My nearly 12 week DS does this occasionally, having really sleepy days. I used to worry he was sleeping too much but then decided since human growth hormone is mainly produced during sleep, he's just putting in some growing time.

As lon as she's happy and alert during the awake bits, grab a cuppa and a book and enjoy the peace while it's there Grin

If shes asleep its because she needs the sleep. They do this if they are feeling under the weather also so its poss shes coming down with something or has a bit of a virus.

Thank you so much. You're absolutely right, she's now more awake and eating. Every day seems a new discovery for her.
