My DD is going through another 'mummy' stage. It's not the first time but she has always still shown love for her daddy, kisses, cuddles etc. However she no longer wants anything to do with daddy to the point where he is getting very upset and depressed about it. If i'm there she won't let him do anything, she won't play with him, sit with him or anything. Even when i'm not there she throws tantrums and generally makes life difficult for him. I feel so bad because he is a very hands on daddy and wants to be involved in everything but she won't let him?

Any ideas on what i can do?

We had the same thing a couple of months ago with ds, now 20mo. He just seemed to grow out of it, but I think it also helped to give him and DH as much time together as we possibly could, make sure they did really fun things together and not pandering to it where we could. So even if ds had a massive tantrum when I left him with DH to go and have a shower, I'd just go anyway and DH would try to engage him in something he liked. In the end he chose playing with DH over standing by the bathroom door! Like your other half mine found it depressing and sad and his instinct was to back off, but doing the opposite did help and it's just a phase like all these things. Maybe punishing them dads for being at work more or something (in our case anyway)? I found some older threads with similar issues at this age using the search button, so you're not alone.

Just go out for the entire day and leave them to get on with it- do it regularly - she won't tantrum for ever. Let them go out without you and make sure that it is something that is really fun.
