6/7 YEAR OLD BEING MEAN TO FRIENDS...

hi my 6 nearly 7 year old has started to be really horrible to her friends at school, she doesnt do it when i am with her but she does it at play times etc, the teacher has spoken to me about it and i have spoken to dd and she admits she does it but says they are horrid to her.

this morning one of the other kids came over and said that she wasnt allowed to play with dd anymore as she is nasty!!!

how do i get my dd to stop, and to be honest some of the other kids are nasty too, i put it down to age, no problems at home and she has a sister of 18 months.

help me as i dont want a horrible child.

I think you sould certainly speak to your DD, but I also think the school needs to intervene and encourage these kids to play with eachother. Once ostracised, it will be an uphill struggle for your DD to get back in with her mates unless someone helps her.

Dd's class went through this a couple of years ago. Don't think there was just one nasty child, but they generally all seemed to be rather mean to each other. The teacher spoke to them all in circle time and rather than picking out one child, spoke to them in a more general way about tolerance, being kind etc etc. It worked because I am constantly amazed now how well they all get along, they never seem to fall out, just go with the flow, play with whoever wants to play a particular game, and they no longer have that you're not my friend nonsense.
Maybe you could ask the teacher if she could do something like that. It certainly can't hurt.

teacher has spoken to my dd but not the others, its not really bad horridness, just not your friend type stuff and saying.....wotever!

i have tried to chat to dd and she knows its wrong and says sorry but i dont want her to do it.
