you mean to hit them with? or some other discipline method?

I know if I was given one to cream eggs and butter together with my arm goes dead and that would be enough for me but defo not to hit with!!

alliebaba · 13/03/2006 20:52

no no no no no.....
my MIL kept a stick behind the kitchen door and threatened dh with it.. she even used it once.. hitting doesn't work

gibberish · 13/03/2006 20:53

Shock Am amazed people would suggest this! Archaic.

Bugsy2 · 13/03/2006 20:54

If you are talking about using it to hit your dd with, then I would say from personal experience that it bl**dy hurts. Who on earth is encouraging you to use it?

chicagomum · 13/03/2006 20:55

I am curious, if you are already against it why are you asking about it?

mrsgee · 13/03/2006 20:55

agree about the eggs and sugar does really ache. but no they genuinly mean to smack their child withShock.just cant imagine doing this no matter how naughty they are. naughty step works for my dd

Don't agree with it, EXCEPT as how used in Desperate Housewives "Choose your weapon" episode :)

I have never heard of this before - I thought you were talking about a sleeping position! :o

Bugsy2 · 13/03/2006 21:41

That is so depressing MrsGee. I thought that it was a generational thing and that people really had stopped beating their children with implements.

I was beaten with whatever came to hand, including the wooden spoon and I have argued on here countless times how awful I think violence against children is.
I feel so angry that there are still people who think that walloping children with implements is acceptable. Makes me feel sick.

mrsgee · 13/03/2006 21:42

personally prefer my own space dh snores too much!!!!especially after quite e few beers:)

Hitting or threatening to hit a child with any form of implement is much closer to child abuse than I can possibly condone. It is cowardly abuse of power. My mother routinely caned me and my siblings when I was a child. As I got older (and bigger!), I threatened to report her to the authorities. No matter how much she did for me, this is one thing I will never forget or forgive her for.

lunarx · 13/03/2006 21:44

wow. i cant believe people suggest that.

very sad :(

mrsgee · 13/03/2006 21:47

i just cant imagine using an implement to discipline my children.i was only ever smacked by my mum and once she came out in bruises on her hand where she had caught me wrong.

mrsgee · 13/03/2006 21:49

i just dont think this person will see it as a form of child abuse but as a way of bringing discipline to their children.

Mrsgee, I am afraid it is for people like that that we have to have anti-smacking laws Sad
