HELP .. What have I got myself I too?

It's a family wedding (my sisters) and we are going abroad in 6 weeks and I'm having a heart attack!!

Not so much the twins as such as they will hopefully just sit still, but my 19 month old ahhhhhhh

Any advice would be fab

My dh and 2 elder children 6,9 and other family members (with there own children) will be on board too.

How does that work? I thought you had to have an under two year old on your lap.

You'll be fine. There's the novelty of it. let your 19 month tire him/herself out in the airport. I flew with DS at 9 months and he slept the whole way. I had to force him awake to feed him on take off and landing! We also flew the following summer, so about 20 months. I went for the something old, something new, a few books and what saved the day was an exercise book and some packets of stickers. I took those cheap coloured circles. He spent the whole flight trying to take them off and stick them in the book. Also took pencils (was worried he'd draw on the seats with pens) and a lot of patience!

Take food for the trip (bribery) and spare nappies (incase your luggage gets lost!) favourite toy. And have fun!

Thank you, luckily it's a family wedding so my mum said she will hold a baby on take off and landing :)

Very scarey flying with young children I just hope no one on te plane gets annoyed if they cry :(

By the sound of it, half the passengers will be your family! How long is the flight?

MaliKat · 21/08/2012 19:28

You must make sure the babies swallow on take off and landing so give them a bottle/dummy so that they can equalise the pressure in their ears. Also take a bottle of drink for your 19month old.

ladythatlunches · 22/08/2012 09:05

The flight is 3/4 hours to kos

Yes a lot of family will be aboard but also have there own children .. Feel kind of sorry for other passengers :(

Check out some of the other threads on flying with babies and toddlers (if you haven't already Smile).

I've flown a few times with a very fidgety toddler your kind of age and a baby. One thing that worked really well was to have a little bag prepared of all sorts of odds and ends (little boxes, travel toothbrushes, key-rings) so when your toddler has to sit still he's distracted.
I had oatcakes when he got even fidgetier as they take ages to eat!
On one particularly bad flight from Germany I took him to the back of the plane where the air hostesses prepare the coffee and he loved looking at all the metal drawers and cabinets and coloured buttons. They even let him stand on the shelf and poke at the machines.
On the last flight we did, I had been given a gift set of the story book "Where's Spot" which came with a little fluffy toy dog. We had lots of fun hiding spot in the seat pocket and on the seat in front which, mercifully, was empty.
Good luck! Most other passengers I've found to be pretty tolerant.

Thank you all very much!!

My 19 month old hasn't got her own seat (wish we had now) but they said if we wanted to pay for anotjer seat for her and we needed a car seat for under 2?? And seamed such a performance to carry with 4 babies and luggage!!! So the seat belt won't be of any use!!

I am planning on buying crayons, paper, sticker books and all sorts!! Lots of snacks juice, milk anything and everything I can get away with and hope they will occupy her!!

We have to get up very early flight at 8:30 so I will just scoop them all up and leave them in Jammies as we go out door!

We bought all the above things, snacks stickers etc but also downloaded lots of games to my husbands phone. can highly reccommend "wheres mommy?" for normal phone or toca boca if you have an iphone. I found mine was quite entertained by the drinks trollet, the table, the seat pocket, arm rests, toilet, ice cubes, window etc anyway.

hope it goes well
