Skipping learning to roll stage

This is DC4 so I know all children develop differently. DD3 is 8 months next week and overall I have no concerns about her physical development as she can sit forever without falling, is now in crawling position but not got co-ordinated to go anywhere and this week is pulling to stand so she is developing fine apart from she has never rolled herself over. Either tummy to back or the other way.

If you lie her on her back and lie next her and call her name she will happily roll onto relevant side to see you but stops on her side. She sleeps on her sides a lot of the time. She never tries to go the next stage and roll over.

If you roll her over she just looks at you as if to say why did you do that! She is happy on her tummy.

So anyone else have a baby that skipped the rolling stage and if so when do they learn? Can't think of a child I know that doesn't roll about the floor so I am assuming she will just learn later?

DD sat about 6 months and moved about 10.5 months. She rolled at 11.5 on this and hardly did it again. She's nearly 7 now and moves fine :) Am pretty sure she can roll now.

My DS (now 2.3) never rolled, just completely skipped that out along with the crawling stage. He wet from sitting to pulling himself up (8m ish) to walking holding on (9m ish) and by 10m he was walking without holding on! I think I recall seeing him roll over when he was about 1yr (it was mothers say so just under 1yr!) and being very impressed that he 'finally rolled'!!Blush

DS1 never rolled. He sat, then eventually crawled, cruised and walked. DD had been a compulsive roller from about 12 weeks, so I was on the look out for it but he wasn't interested!

Thanks for the replies. Reassuring to know that other skipped this phase. At least I am not getting woken with her rolling on her tummy and waking up stuck there like DD1 did : )

DS now 2.3 never rolled, i remember being quite worried at the time and HV told me it wasn't a milestone and some babies never roll. He would also never sit, not sure if he could or not but if you tried to put him in a sitting position he will just go forwards so he could lie on his tummy. He crawled around 7 or 8 months and walked around 14 months.

DD (16mo) never rolled. Still doesn't, really. Sat unaided at 5 months, crawled at 9 months, walked at 13 months, is now a very capable stair-climber and heavy object-lifter so I guess rolling just wasn't that interesting for her.
