Ideas for very sneaky 3mo!

Literally in the past few days 3mo DS has started pushing himself around on his back, to the point where we're having to pull him back onto his playmat every few minutes while he grins in delight at his newfound abilities

I don't want to put him in a playpen as 1) we don't have one and 2) it seems a bit unfair soft mum

Any ideas how we can contain him but still give him the freedom to move?

Why can't he just move around? You just have to move anything dangerous up a bit higher.

We're on holiday and floors here are tiled and a bit sandy so don't want him getting accidentally dirty hurt. I've put 2 playmats down but he's off those within minutes!

A blanket? Or let him get dirty...?

MamaBear17 · 19/08/2012 19:22

My dd did the same. Whilst you are on holiday there isnt much you could do (although you might find a changing mat with a padded lip all around it slows him down) but when you get home, start the baby proofing! My dd was crawling at 51/2 months and cruising and climbing soon after. Imagine he can do the same things as a baby 6 months older and you should cover all of your safety bases.

We have 2yo DD too so most things are already either out of reach or behind doors etc.
Think we're going to have to find a rug for him to sprawl out on! 2 playmats is not a big enough world for him Smile

When my dd did this on holiday on the tile floor, we put a double duvet down.

BobbysBeardOfWonder · 19/08/2012 20:53

Did the duvet not bunch up or move around to Tara?

Hi bobby. No, it was a thin duvet and she was only really rolling around, not crawling. We lay her on it with a few toys.

Don't remember it bunching up. I.do remember shaking it outside though to get the sand off! Didn't do much for the sand issue!
