Cruising Shoes

I know the recommendation is that babies don't need shoes until walking is established and my little girl always has just bare feet or socks in doors, but thinking ahead to Autumn and winter I wondered about getting some for outdoor wear especially as her grandparents are going to get her a smart trike next month so I forsee lots of trips to the park... What do other mums think, just socks when she is on her little bike doesn't seem enough?

All in one winter snowsuits usually have feet in, so thick socks underneath would be nice and cosy.

something with super soft soles like the Robeez or Bobux ranges are good, not fully waterproof but don't mind getting a little damp.

I have a much bigger problem finding something suitable for a fully walking toddler, the availability of shoes is terrible, all way too stiff soled. It's a real PITA :(

You don't say how old she is, but I'm assuming she's cruising/close to walking? I bought dd cruising shoes before she was walking independently as she loved walking outdoors holding one hand, and the suede soles of her soft leather shoes got shredded (and quite often the ground was damp- it was in the spring).

If they're just for occasional use outdoors for comfort/convenience I don't see anything wrong with them - some people leave babies in them all day though indoors and out and obviously that's not good. At least if she's measured for them you know they fit properly. If your dd's nowhere near walking and will just need them for sitting on a trike then soft leather suede-soled shoes would be fine.

Clarks cruisers are lovely. Soft and rubbery and handy when toddling around outside. We had these for
My son for ages (different pairs not the same onesSmile) as he walked at 8 months and it seemed wrong to have such a small baby in clompy soled shoes Smile

Thanks for your thoughts, she is 8 1/2 months. we'll get her trike in about a month. The shoes would be just for occasional outdoor use, I wouldn't dream of keeping them on in the house. Will see where she's upto when her grandparents come to visit at the end of next month when we get her trike.
