Help- 13 wk old waking every half hour...

Sorry for long post, bear with me...
My 13 week old dd has never been a good sleeper during the day, managing only a half hour in the morning and afternoon most days. Even getting her to sleep for that time takes a good feed and a dummy. She rarely naps in the pram for more than 20 mins (and cries a fair bit the rest of the time, doesn't really like the pram much) and never sleeps in the car seat (and cries a lot!). I've tried a sling but she dozes for 5 mins then starts rooting, even if she's just had a big feed. She's never slept on my lap or next to me in bed either.

Until 2-3 weeks ago I'd coped with no daytime naps (though it does make her tired and cranky) as she'd been pretty good overnight, asleep by 7.30pm, only waking for feeds and settling quickly and waking 7-7.30am. But now she wakes every half hour from 1-5am then is up from 6am. I've tried giving her the dummy, which she takes but is awake again in half hour. I've tried feeding her but shes awake again in an hour. I'm worried I've set up sleep associations so she doesn't know how to get herself back to sleep. I don't think controlled crying would work (she can cry for an hour and not sleep...) and I wouldn't try it at her age anyway.
Can anyone tell me how they've coped with something similar and what I might be doing wrong? Am so exhausted, I don't know what to do :(

I've done it and coped with it -the every 30 minutes waking was a real low point - at his worst he was waking 15 times a night :(

It is he'll on earth and you have my complete sympathy. We used the no cry sleep solution (taking the bits we wanted from it) and last night DS only woke 4 times from 6.30pm - 6am. He is 37 weeks (8.5 months).

It didn't really improve until 6 mObths but it did. And you get used to people thinking you are a lunatic because you only got up 4 times in a night :o

Aagh, should proof read!

That should've been thinking you're a lunatic because you're happy you've only got up 4 times a night.

Thanks PotteringAlong. I just feel so tired all the time. Everyone told me to sleep when my baby sleeps but that hasn't really worked for me...
What's the no cry sleep solution?

It's a book about sleep for those of us who can't / won't let them cry it out. It was once described to me as the thing to make you feel better about all the sleep you're not getting!
