DS is waking wanting to eat at 1am...!

DS (20 months) has always been a good sleeper and normally sleeps through (6.30 to 6.30). On the odd occasion he wakes, he sometimes has a bottle to help resettle. However, recently he has been waking around 1am saying he's hungry...not for milk but for food. My gut instinct is to say no as eating in the middle of the night is not a habit I want to start but if you don't get him something he gets completely hysterical...longest we've lasted is 2 hrs before giving in for the sake of all our sanity and getting some sleep. Anyone else experienced this? He does seem to be growing a lot so I'm hoping it could be linked to that. Really don't want to start a bad habit when sleeping's always been so good!

He eats almost constantly from tea until bed, including weetabix after his bath!

Makes sure he has plenty of protein in the evening.

DS does this every so often, and has never been a 'good' sleeper. I just feed him and it stops again. Could be a growth spurt or developmental leap.

DS went through about two weeks of this, midnight sandwiches. He was genuinely ravenous, and it didn't matter what he ate in the day. I think it was a mega growing spell.
