Worrying about dd not being able to sit up yet

Title says it all really. My dd is just five months old and can't sit up yet, she wants to and hates being laid down to play now. I sit with her propped up inbetween my legs. She just flops forwards or to the side. She can hold her head fine when supported. One of the baby's at my baby group can sit up fine and is two weeks younger than my dd. I know you shouldn't compare baby's and the baby's mum at baby group wasnt boasting about it or anything, she said she was an early developer (I was quite late). It just worries me is this normal - the not sitting up not the worrying.

Any advice, experience greatfuly received.

DD could not sit up at 5 months. Three weeks later she won't do anything else, I wouldn't worry, they learn very fast! :)

My DS didn't sit up till 7.5 months. That is also normal. Don't worry yet - they are all different!

Five months is pretty young. 'normal' range (for want of a better word) is up to eight months. Dd was 7.5 months.

I also know someone whose ds didn't sit until 9 months but he was running around shortly after his first birthday

DS could crawl before he could sit. They are all so different.

Five months is very young for sitting up. Please stop panicking. DD didn't sit up unaided until she was 10 months.

My DD was 10 months also... so very different to DS.
