Thanks :)

DD, 2.5yo
DS1, 11mo
DS2, 7yo
DS3, not yet and is 18mo.

So my DC have varied between 11mo and 7yo. If I discount DS2 who has physical disabilities, then between 11mo and 2.5yo.

Any help?

CouthyMow · 05/08/2012 07:58

(I take it you mean with feet off the floor? Because 18mo DS3 knows how to jump, and what 'jump' is, but his feet don't leave the floor yet.)

JollyHockeyStick · 05/08/2012 08:01

Great, thanks. DS is 15mo and really wants to jump. For the past three days he's been running round the house shouting "jump, jump". I blame the Olympics.

I wasn't sure whether it was possible for him to actually do it or whether he was definitely too little. Sounds like it's not impossible, but whether he'll manage it by sheer force of will just yet is another matter.

Yes, feet off the floor :)

My son is 2 1/2 & still can't manage to jump properly in his trampoline.

CouthyMow · 05/08/2012 08:13

Probably a bit early, but determination can help, DS1 did it at 11mo, but he did start walking at 7mo. So around 4 months after he started walking.

DS3, 18 mo is the sane as your little one, keeps shouting 'jump', then bouncing on his heels. Grin it's cute to watch.

TheOneWithTheGoldMedals · 05/08/2012 08:18

Ds2 was about 13 months. Like CouthyMow's ds he walked early at 9 months.

Dd walked at 10 months and couldn't jump until she was nearly four! We were actually waiting for an appointment for her about it.

They are all so different so it's not impossible. Try getting him to jump off a very low step to start if you want to help him learn.

JollyHockeyStick · 05/08/2012 09:06

Thank you. DS wasn't walking confidently until about a fortnight before his first birthday, so we could be a bit longer yet. If he persists in trying to jump then I'll help him out by trying to teach him, but I'm thinking he'll probably get bored of it in a few days.

DS3 didn't walk till 14 months, not because he couldn't, but because he had 3 older siblings to get what he wanted. It was the same day I stopped them from getting what he asked for that he got up and walked. So well, stopping, crouching etc, that he was obviously able much sooner, but just CBA!

TheOneWithTheGoldMedals · 05/08/2012 09:37

Grin I wish someone would wait on me like that!

MousyMouse · 05/08/2012 09:42

both mine were able to get their feet off the ground at around 2y.
before that they only could do that adorable nappy-bum up-and-down.

matana · 05/08/2012 10:22

DS just beginning to now at 20 months. It's still more of a quick 'one-two' but he understands 'jump' and managed both feet off the ground at once yesterday, though he sometimes lands on his bum. He's also begun walking on tippie toes Confused

BettyandDon · 05/08/2012 10:25

About 15 months, started by landing on her bum. I blamed the jolly jumper/door swing she had as a baby. She absolutely loved being in it.

brightonbleach · 05/08/2012 10:32

both feet off the ground 2.2 - now he's 2.7 and doesn't stop jumping, its incoporated into everything from dancing, running, tantrums :)

Em3978 · 05/08/2012 10:35

I think the average is 2y, my DS was roughly 2 and most of the children at our toddler group seem to suddenly be able to jump at about 2.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 05/08/2012 10:37

DD was around 2.10 but I did read somewhere that they arent expected to do it until after 3.

RobinSparkles · 05/08/2012 10:40

I can't remember how old DD1 was but DD2 has just started doing the thing where they "jump" but their feet don't leave the floor. It's so funny! I say, "1,2,3 jump!" and she does a little jig, accompanied by her saying "wheee" and she claps herself for doing such a good "jump".

She's 17 months and didn't start walking until nearly 15.

AngelDog · 06/08/2012 18:11

I also read somewhere around 3, but the HV today told me to talk to our paediatrician about the fact that 2.7 y.o. DS can't do it yet. I'm not sure he knows what proper jumping is, even.

I'm not too worried though - we're not seeing the paediatrician next until DS will be 3.0, so I reckon he'll probably start by then.

IWillOnlyEatBeans · 06/08/2012 18:43

DS is 2.5 and can just about jump with two feet off the ground. He has been delayed in all of his physical milestones though, so I have stopped worrying...
