Hi my son is 20 months and the last two weeks i have noticed him doing some strange movement with his body he will normally do this when he goes upto people to babble to them he bends forward and goes to knee level and walks about 3 steps then gets back up and walks properly. Anyone else experienced this? Should i be concerned? He has been walking since 12 months and never done this before.

What do you mean "go to knee level"? Do you mean he is bending at the waist and then walking forward 3 steps, then straightening up?

Is that not what he sees people doing when they walk upto him, as he is much smaller than them.?

RaisinDEritrea · 01/08/2012 23:05

yes I am with the Professor

DS1 used to walk with hands joined behind back like Grandad when he was about two (they spent a LOT of time together)

Awwww

Oh God bless him! I agree...I bet he's simply stooping as that's what he sees all day!

this really made me laugh. they are little sponges aren't they?!?! mine is 2.7 and he is currently going up to other kiddies and putting both hands firmly on their faces, I realised that I do that quite often (2 hands on his face and give him a kiss!) but of course he's being a bit rougher/more slapdash plus the kids don't know that he's trying to give them a kiss so they're just getting scared!! ho hum. He's also following his dad with arms straight out like a zombie today saying bum bum bum bum uh oh

Lily86 · 02/08/2012 12:26

Hi thanks for replys :) yeah i think that is maybe why he is doing it as i tend to do it and other people do it lol i hadnt thought of that. X

DS (2 in 2 weeks) does all sorts of strange contortions that are his 'moves' (dancing). He quite often anounces 'MOVES' now while doing it (picked up from 'groovy moves' on Show Me Show Me'). However, before he had a word for it you would have thought he had some neurological condition and I have honestly on occasion been quite worried! Now I realise he just dances like his dad. Blush

My DS went through a phase of doing this! I didn't get why, just laughed at him but NuttyProfessor's explanation makes sense. He's stopped now. Bless em.
