question prompted from reading another thread...My dd has just turned one and I've switched from bottle to beaker for morning and bedtime milk? Is that ok or should I leave we with a bottle a bit longer?

Also at what age do u drop all milk feeds? I know she's not ready to yet, just curious.

Thanks.

We ditched bottles at 8 months. Can't remember about dropping milk, but probably not far off where you are now.

We stopped at 11 months. She was never that fussed about milk anyway & was on a good solid diet by then so when her intake of milk reduced I just gave her more cheese etc to make up for it

We went from breast to beaker at 6 months and skipped bottles.

dd was off bottles by 15 months and ds was about 11 months. They still had milk am and pm for at least a year or so after that as milk is a source of calcium.

Stopped on her first birthday.

I never used bottles but introduced beakers for water from 6 months and milk from 12 months.

No need to drop milk feeds (plenty of school children have a glass milk with breakfast or warm milk at bedtime after all) but you can from formula to full cream milk any time after 12 months if you want to.

You can switch from formula

Recently, at 16 months. DS only had one bottle at bedtime by then. I bought him a beaker with animals on it, which he loves, and to my surprise he is drinking as much milk as from a bottle.

DD was 14mths. She still has two milk feeds a day. She takes longer to drink from her cup so we do a story at milk time now. Some days she doesn't finish all her milk, so I make sure she has cheese for the calcium.

SpottyTeacakes · 01/08/2012 20:14

A year old, but she was already having a beaker for water. She wasn't fussed about milk either and a few months later we just stopped offering it at night (which was the only time she had it).

DD is 19 months and still having her bedtime milk in a bottle!! I'm in no hurry to change this - all other drinks are in a cup and we brush her teeth twice and day.
