I always feel bad when I walk into a shop to have my child's feet measured knowing that I'm not going to buy anything. Is it considered normal and common practice to, or should I feel committed to buy shoes in that shop?

A good shop will be happy to just check. However whether you want to queue up with hoards if you are not planning on buying anything is nother matter.

Just do it! I pop in to have them measured quite frequently and if the size haven't changed I just leave again

I get my kids feet measured every 8 weeks or so and never have to get anything for all 3, so I wouldn't worry.

Last time I went in they actually advised me to brng ds back in in 6-8 weeks, so I wouldn't feel bad if nothing's changed.

I used to work for clarks and we had people come in all the time just to check the size - i wouldnt worry about it.
