Finding DD 19mo hard work at meal times

Hi all my DD is 19 MO and is generally pure joy but I am finding her hard work at Meal Times, mainley evening meals she is just not eating the main meal but will eat her yogurt and fruit quite happily. She has always refused cows milk so I give her daily yogurts to get her calcium. She is coming into the terrible 2's I think, we have had several tantrums. I am not sleeping very well at the moment so I don't think this is helping. How do I get her to eat her main meal. Should we be offering her something else or just leaving her. I have been in tears this evening because of the way she has been reacting. I don't get any time to myself and I am thinking perhaps I just need a break but I feel very guity for feeling like that. Any ideas?

I am having EXACTLY the same. I have read and read and read about it, asked loads of friends and basically came up with what I initially thought - he's one and it is a stage!! Don't get me wrong, this stresses me out but determined not to show it now. My boy is tall for his age and always been good weight (born10lb) but not overweight at all so I figure the habit/behavioural issues are more important to our family than the calories. Therefore, if he eats what is given to him then great, if not, then no alternative and no dessert. If he's hungry, he will eat. His breakfast and lunch are fine so I pack as much nutrients into them as possible and give him a multivit syrup once a day as of friday and that's for my benefit more than his. he does sometimes eat at dinner time and I find what works most is when we sit down, i put food in front of him and then largely ignore whilst speaking to DH, so going to continue in that vein for next few weeks.

Any teeth coming? I found mine were/are funny about food when teething. Also, if they're ill it takes ages for mine to return to normal eating - up to a couple of weeks.
