ADHD? After 4 years in the system we STILL don't know!

My wife and I are at our wits end with or son. We took him to see a child specialist when he was aged 5 due to having concerns about his behavior....4 years, several specialists, GP's,social workers later and we still have no diagnosis :-/.
His behavior consists of load outbursts, constant mischief, arguments with 2 older sibling (fights are always on the agenda although he always comes off worse!). Throws objects without considering the damage he could do if they hit people (and they have). Talks with numerous expletives, has to arrange toys in certain order..goes ballistic if they are disturbed. Has to have food on plate not touching (egg cant touch beans etc). Has learning difficulties although school say his behavior is not anywhere near as extreme as when at home.Won't go upstairs to toilet on his own although can't explain why.
I can't deal with him much longer as his disruptive antics are causing major distress to other children and my wife and I......no one has taught US how to cope...we are falling apart yet the system seems to be incapable of offering assistance past meetings and more meetings.....HELP!

Has he got a statement?

A statement? Can you describe what that is....I know he has one on one teaching at school is that it?

I've long suspected DS has ADHD, albeit "mild" (contentious statement in itself).

What you describe sounds (in my humble only vaguely informed opinion) more like the main problem is a sensory-type disorder (i.e., ASD, doesn't preclude ADHD as comorbidity, of course).

Does he hyper focus?
Does he have trouble multi-tasking?
Does he simultaneously want lots of entertainment-attention yet emotionally can't handle being over-stimulated?

how many dedicated hours of support does he get at school?

I think you should come over to the Special Needs Children board, it is just underneath Am I being unreasonable.

There are lots of people over there with loads of experience who can support and advise you.
