Still worried that 20 month DS calls everyone mummy

I've posted before - 20 month old DS is still calling me
Mummy a lot of the time but also random strangers, DH, childminder and even himself!

Is this really that common/normal amongst babies of this age?

Not sure if it is common to call strangers mummy but it is very common for toddlers of this age group to call relatives or people that looks after them mummy. My DD used to call me daddy and still calls me by my first name and calls his daddy and anunty mummy. Just correct him when it happens.

mine used to call everyone that he 'knew' Daddy! he did it till about 23m... wuite disconcerting (especially for the postman :) ) he's 2 and 8m now and will say very nicely when you walk in the door "Hello Mummy!" "Hello Nanny!" "Hello Lady!" "Hello everyone!" appropriately, so they sort it out eventually IME

Hi my DD is 19MO and has just started saying Mummy properly (she said variations of it but has only just started saying it clearly) she also calls everybody Mummy at the moment, and all photo's no matter if of a person or not is Daddy. try not to worry about it, I am sure it is quite normal, at their age they are still learning who is who and I don't think they quite grasp what exactly they are saying. Good luck x

Our ds is now 21 mos and has only in the last week stopped calling everyone Daddy, including his sis. DH apparently did it too, and for much longer.

My dd calls everyone daddy, me my mum anyone she meets!!!

Honestly anyone!!!

I think it's sweet and a little funny I just say no mummy/nanny etc :)

Ds1 called me Dada which was his name for people's names he couldn't remember. The first time he said Mummy was to his Dad. His Dad said "Who's inside?" He said "Mummy," then wouldn't say it again for months. He is a Mummy's boy now!

My 19mo dd calls Childminder Mummy quite a bit aswell as Nanny..
She's been prone to calling random strangers daddy too which can be a bit embarrassing at times!
I really, really wouldn't worry.

I go into my dd's nursery and at least two children a day call me mummy (and they're not mine). They're three and four. I think it's because I am a mummy and in their mind must be called mummy. I know when they get to school I become olympicbelle's daughter's mummy.

My 23mo refers to all women as 'mummy' and until recently all men as 'daddy'. Because she's recognised that there are roughly two flavours of grown ups and that's the labels she has for them! She recently started saying 'man' though, so I expect that 'lady' will come soon.

Plus there are all the people at nursery who are "'Shua Mummy" and "Ella mummy"; she only just started giving the child's name first, previously they were just all mummies!

It's very very normal!

21mo dd has 5 categories of people:
Mummy (women)
Daddy (men)
Boy
Girl
Grandma (all older people regardless of gender)
