sitting up

dd is 7.5 months.

she sits up on her own, and has been doing for about a month. (nice straight back etc)
she doesn't put herself into seated position.
should she be doing?

I've just got the 8-month newsletter from Boot's that said she might start to pull herself up on furniture, but surely she should be seating herself before she does this?

she never went through the rolling over and over stage either (she rolled back to front, and then started doing overreaching for stuff and accidentally ending up on her back, but has never deliberately rolled front-to-back)

I wouldn't worry-they all develop at different times. DD is 10mo and not crawling, not pulling herself up and still barely rolling. She bum shuffles very competently though! Other babies her age I've seen crawling, cruising, and not sitting confidently. Honestly, they all get to different stages at different times so don't worry.

DS is 9 months tomorrow and doesn't get himself seated, I have to do it. He's also not fussed about rolling. But he loves to stand and jump so I think he might skip crawling and all that, and just start walking instead.

So don't worry, as Kaloo says, they all do it differently. I think we should be grateful ours aren't on the move yet, much easier to look after!

she commando-crawls sometimes, but with one leg outstretched.

I say to her "I can see you, you know"

My dd could only get herself into seated position once she could crawl (9 months) - ditto pulling up on furniture. It all happens very quickly once they get moving!

My twins are 7 months (just) and aren't sitting up unaided yet!!

My dd who is 18 months old has only just started walking she didn't sit EE self up untill about 10 months never pulled her self up till 1 :) they are funny little things and will do it when ready.

that's a relief- I was starting to worry that she'd missed out a stage

(or more, I was worried that because I always seat her that she feels no need to do that stage herself)

My dd crawled before she figured out how to roll from tummy to back. They do things at their own time I think xx
