Newborn baby doing giant wees! Is that normal?

DS2 was born on Friday night and we're all getting used to life together. We're trying to establish BFing (had limited success with DS1) and so are watching his nappies with avid interest.

He seems to produce several dirty nappies in a day (varying amounts) but few obviously wet nappies. In fact in the past 2 days he has produced one wet nappy per day but each of those has been sodden! DH is unhappy about this as he reckons newborn boys pee like 'little mice' - i.e. constantly. I am not too worried as his mouth is wet, he feeds well and his bowel movements aren't that dry.

Has anyone else experienced this with their newborn(s)?

A friends dd was like that - she would hang on for hours and hours then do a giant wee. At 5, she's just the same - doesn't need a wee all day a lot of the time

Thanks CMOT - we were worried that he might have a problem with his bladder or something!! However he's produced several more wet ones in the past 12 hours so maybe his little body has just been going slow. Never mind, as long as it's working now Grin
