Crying in sleep/ night terrors?

My ds (6 months) cries in his sleep often - which is very disconcerting as he is the calmest little thing when awake. What can/should I do? I have been waking him, but tonight I sat next to him and watched. He is sobbing but definitely asleep. Waning now, just doing that after cry breathing thing.

He will grow out of it. When mine had them I just held her until it stopped. It's awful. I didnt wake her.

Getting overheated/overtired can aggrivate

My DS2 does this too. Neither of my other two did. It's very strange and he sounds far more upset than he ever gets when awake! I just hold him until he calms down. He's just turned 1 and still does it occasionally. He's done it pretty much since birth, really odd.

Ok. Glad it's normal at least. He defo wasn't over tired. We got hot today, but the room is cool now and he has appropriate layers. I wonder what causes it...
