Height....

DS is 19 months. Not sure exactly what his height is (not properly measured) but around 80cm. He looks short compared to peers. Is this short? I've mislaid the red book (bad mother emoticon)

I've just read that their height as an adult is about 2 x their height at 2years old.

Is this true? Is he doomed to be a short ass?

I have my red book out as went to clinic yesterday. 19 months 80cm is 9th centile. A 9th centile adult would be 5ft 7-8. Don't know about the 2 x2yr old thing though

Thanks cee! That's really helpful. 5ft 7-8 is fine. I had visions of 5ft...

Hey I'm 5ft!!! (but I guess it's different for men...)

DD is 81,5cm at 20,5 mo. She is following her curve on one of the lower centiles and looks pretty average size when with her peers. I wouldn't worry to much.

I also wouldn't attach to much importance to predictive calculations. I was the smallest in my class until suddenly shooting up around 15 (ie: quite late) and have ended up nearly 5ft 9. DP is 6ft and didn't grow until aged 16 or so, by which point GP was starting to advocate growth hormone, but a late spurt suddenly kicked in. So we'd expect DD to end up pretty tall, but maybe not until well into her teens.

Thanks all. Yes, I'm not much more than 5ft but I do think it's different for girls (sorry, horrible gender stereotyping going on here). DH is about 5ft 8 but didn't shoot up till he was a teen. Both families are small.

Not expecting miracles but just don't want him to feel small or self-conscious.
