Cot to bed - any tips?

DD is only 17 months but she's already climbing out of her cot so we've decided to take the plunge and her toddler bed is coming next weekend. [Shudders!] Any tips on a smooth transition? We're totally going to play up the whole 'big girl bed' thing to make her feel important. Should I be thinking about anything else?

Bed guard if she's like my DS and revolves like a top! Stops them falling out, but not getting out IYSWIM.

The bed she's getting has raised side bits so really there's only a foot or so on the side that's completely open. Fingers crossed she'll be OK. Will put some pillows down on the floor too to start with I think.
