Hi I am moving my ds2 who is 22months in with my 4 year old ds1 soon so we can get our bedroom back. its a small room and its not going to get any bigger for the foreseeable future so need some advice on bed sizes. Has anyone used the Ikea small single beds for a 4 year old and if so did they suit? or any other small beds? the room is just too small for a full single bed and a cot but a smaller single would work ok. any advice/thoughts appreciated- i dont want the four year old to be cramped. he's not particularly big but moves about a fair bit. thanks.

It is best to get a standard sized single bed.

Is the room not classified as a bedroom?

The thuka shorty beds are good. They are same width as a single but a bit shorter. We had thuka shorty bunks in a very small bedroom for a while and now we've moved have them as two singles. Absolutely fine for erring on the short side 125cm DS(8) for sometime to come and good quality.

We also had an Ikea kritter small bed at one point. Think the length may be ok for a 4 year old, but they are pretty narrow.

Some of the IKEA beds are extendible. My DD has one that is not, which is fine for a 2/3 year old but won't last her beyond about 6.

How about bunk beds with a bedguard for the 22mo?

thanks for advice- i agree peanutbutter the kritter beds are too narrow really. but the extendable beds would work ok i think. apple- i know i could use bunks but i think my 4yr old would use the top one as some sort of launch pad for superhero activity so my instincts are to avoid them.
