So my 2yr, 4 mth old little boy is biting, hitting, scratching... He gets frustrated and angry and lashes out. Just been to the park and he's bitten the hand of another little girl because she was pushing his little buggy around. We left the park immediately and i told him that it wasn't ok what he'd done to his friend.
Yesterday we were at a playdate and he managed to get his hands on a biro. In a split second when i wasn't watching, he had drawn huge lines all over our new friend's white sofa... My instant reaction was that he's still too little to be responsible for what happened and it was my fault for not watching him, but i'm not so sure... I've been using 'he's too young' for the last year and it's all just upped a gear recently and i feel he's out of control.
When he bites us, we sit him on his bottom and say 'no biting' and walk away. More recently, I have a one minute timer and get him to sit and hold it until all the powder has run through and then he comes to me and i say 'no biting' etc.
I must admit though, that's what we do in our own home, when we're out and about, i'm embarrassed, and i often will just say 'no biting' and then leave it. So maybe i'm being inconsistent?
I currently work 3 days a week and leave him with a childminder who says that he doesn't ever do these things with her - just with me and my husband. Me going back to work is a fairly recent thing (2 months) so maybe it's something to do with that, although, he was behaving like this while i was at home with him.
Any advice??
Thank you!
