What to do with child's artwork

My dd is 3 and has recently started nursery, and every Friday comes home with the paintings/ drawings that she has done that week. To start with I was putting them on the wall/fridge, but we are slowly running out of room and I am loathe to throw them away as she has a tantrum every time she sees them in the bin (and I feel a bit guilty for putting them in the bin after all the work she has put into them).

What do you do with yours?

Dd is too young for personal experience but my friend has bought a large scrap book and religiously sticks all art work in it, I am going to do the same as the books can always be put in storage but brought out when wanted :)

Already have a folder type thing that I save DSs stuff in. When theres more of it I'll be more selective and just bin it when he isnt around.

If she thinks it all goes in a box in the loft or something, she should be OK. Get her to help you the first time you put some away and then she will assume the next time and so on.

We have a 'halfway' storage box: Everything goes straight in the box. Then when I have some time I carefully go through them and weed out at least 90% which goes straight in the bin (discreetly). The remainder I keep, and the best work I mount and put in clip frames around the house. I'd rather have a few pieces displayed nicely, than endless stuff just pinned up.

Handy Tip: Always write the date on the back of artwork when you get it.

I put mine only on the walls of the staircase, so that the rest of the house is kid-art free and grown-up, but all the way up the stairs is kid-art.

Good date tip flibberty. Will do that in future.

Keep a feww good bits and give the rest to your MIL .

bin them (best place is the recycle bin, hidden under piles of newspaper!)- except for the special ones

you will soon be overwhelmed otherwise!

what I sometimes do is leave the current ones out, then next week, bin the old ones and replace with the new ones.

Wrap Nanna's mother's day present in it! Nanna and dd will both think it's wonderful!

I used to keep everything but my collection is getting rather large now. I keep the best ones and I take digital photos of all of them, that way I have a record of then, bur yhey aren't cluttering up the house.

I Have three suggestions

1 put the date on the back - as Flipperty said
2 put them together with a bulldog clip and hang them from that - the newest one will always be at the front - throw away from the back!
3 put the best - and only the best in a scrap book - you can write a story sentance to go with each picture - eg "I LOVE doing stickers" exclaimed DS. Your child will love to read it with you, also you can introduce new words -
eg exclaimed is so much more interesting than 'said'

Ha ha, a whole new section to bore everyone on MN to death with. Heres DSs picture of a boat, heres one...

mount some of the good ones in frames. Dd1's sn kindy put it all in scrap books and they were given to us as christmas presents from dd1. Other stuff from mainstream kindy - I will keep some, send some to the grandmas and use others for wrapping paper.

Her work does hang from a little ( about A4 size board that says: Look what dd1 did today. Decorated with a fairy and some love hearts. Pegs attached to the bottom to clip up the artwork. On display in the study.

Some bits go on the playroom wall, the rest goes in a swingbin under the stairs and we tape them together to make wrapping paper.
