2.10yo seems terrified of doing a wee

I started potty training my dd2 about 3wks ago and for the first 3 days it went great. Day 4 and she started acting like she had a urine infection, sitting on the potty every few mins/rocking and crying and not doing anything. I had to take her to the Dr as she was crying most of the day and saying her 'bum' hurt, she hadn't done a wee for 9hrs. Dr checked for infection and decided it was behavioural and I should back off for a while and put her back in nappies (which I did). After 2wks of dd2 crying constantly that she needed to wee I took her back to the Dr today. I went to change her nappy this morning and it was dry (put it on at 7pm last night), she was literally screaming and rolling around so I got an emergency apt. Dr repeating the check for infection but still thinks she is scared of doing a wee and I need to find a way of working through it! Ah, yeah, thanks for that! So dd2 finally did a wee at noon (hardly seemed to notice she was doing it!), that was a mammoth 17hrs hold. My older 2dc practically potty trained themselves in a day or so and I'm just at a loss. Would really appreciate advice.

My daughter was like that when she was about 2ys 9 months would hold on wouldn't do a wee crying for a nappy. I solved the problem by leaving her naked from the waist down and giving her lots of juice to drink so she couldn't hold it in. I then watched her like a hawk and when she started to go i would hold the potty between her legs didn't make her sit and gave lots of praise for the wee in the potty . It took a day or so but she over came her fear .

Thank you for your replies. The HV came out to see her yesterday and said she thinks it's an attention thing and I need to back off for a month and not mention toilet (either good or bad) for a month and then she will come back and we'll get a plan together that should work for dd2.

Yesterday was another mega hold - 15hrs! But this morning she had gone when I got her up and is running around being her normal happy self......who knows! Why don't kids come with instructions :)
