Anyone using this book/method? Interested in joining a thread to discuss how we are finding it/swap stories?

We are on day 2 and practising "Descriptive Praise" with pretty good results so far. Tomorrow will be more of a challenge, with getting out the door for school and work, swimming after school and so on.

My DC are DD 7 and DS 5.

Yes, we are finding it great with our 11 year old who is cooperating amazingly on most things. However, we are using it to limit screen time, which is causing a very big rumpus and my calm and solid approach, as suggested, is freaking him out! He is used to lots of crossness and time outs etc, in relation to such things, and keeps trying to raise the stakes to get me to respond!

We are also going to the classes which I think is invaluable. I have done a few before, but find this approach much more thoughtful and less confrontational than others I we have been involved in. Really worth it I think.

We are now 2 weeks in and I am just begining to read the next few chapters.

Descriptive praise has had some amazing results and I do feel calmer! Got to keep it up now and try some think throughs.

I am looking forward to getting to the bit on dealing with outright defiance. Need an alternative to yelling...
