I can remember the agony of doing it when I was about 12 and I can't believe he did it so matter of factly! Amazing - When he grows a 70s moustache I shall call him David Wilkie.

lol. How did he learn so early?

fsmail · 25/02/2006 10:01

I started going with him from a young age and he just suddenly went for it on his own at the age of 3 swimming underwater. He started lessons when he was four and the teacher is brilliant. I am doing the same with my dd now 18 months and just going in with her when he has a lesson and she is also now climbing in on her own off the side but both are confident in the water.

That's fantastic.

I was thinking of you at the pool this weekend - 450m for a 5 yr old is absolutely amazing, isn't it? The children we know who are very strong swimmers are doing that sort of distance age 6 or 7.

That's phenomenal fitness and stamina for a 5 yr-old - wow! Well done him.

JanH · 06/03/2006 19:39

How many lengths is 450m? Shock

roisin · 06/03/2006 19:42

18 Shock

singersgirl · 06/03/2006 20:41

Wow, that's amazing! DS1, who's 7, is still working towards 25m! Well done your DS!

JanH · 06/03/2006 20:47

Blimey!

Is he related to cod? Grin

Just looked up my dd's swimming certificate from the a swimathon we entered as a family team to see how old she was and how far she went. She was also 5 1/2 and swam 500m. We actually had to stop her after 20 lengths - she wanted to continue, but was very slow and her strokes were looking quite awful. I remember they made a special anouncement congratulating her on the tanoy.
