Hi, my dd is 3 and a half. Just started swimmin lessons and refuses to do anything and just cries. Says she doesn't like having a teacher! Monster. She's really confident in water normally but just won't join in. In fact any situation where she thinks attention is on her she won't do things e.g singing at playgroup.

Trying sticker chart for next time but any advice would be appreciated as its just embarrassing at times! Thanks

This sounds totally normal to me! No way would my 3yo be ready for swimming lessons, I'm only just contemplating them for my 5yo. Ditch the lessons for now and just take her to the pool for fun, persisting is only likely to put her off swimming altogether.

Thing is she's funny with lots of situations so I'd never take her anywhere if I stop everytime she has a moment. Cried every week at playschool when I leave her and been going since Jan, tells me she's going to cry, cries then stops at she waves me off! Seems to be anytime she feels attention is on her.
