9 month old sucking comforters/toys - choking!

Help! My 9 month old daughter has started sucking her toys uncontrollably. She has a few stuffed rabbits, so the ears, arms and legs all get stuffed into her mouth. A couple of days ago she gagged on a comforter because she had shoved so much of it in her mouth. She is always supervised, but we have felt the need to take them away from her. I feel so mean doing this, she is so young! Does anyone know of a comforter that she can't fill her mouth with? I've been looking at Cuski's but they don't seem any better.
She most frequently sleeps with a little jellycat comfort blanket and it has a rabbit attached. She has one for home and one for nursery.

She's probably teething hence the sucking. Let her suck on a cold wet flannel so she gets some relief?

Sounds like a great idea. No teeth yet, so i'll give it a try.

Don't fret about gagging - the gag reflex is very useful and she will soon learn to cough and tug the thing out of her mouth. She won't 'choke' on something that large (because it can't get lodged in her windpipe).
