Pedal trike for a 2yo

DD is just about to turn 2 - she is very physically able and I would like to get her a sturdy pedal trike - not the plastic ones that you can push them in when they are babies as we have had bad experiences with those!

I want something sturdy with a big seat that will mean she can't fall off it backwards easily

Any recommendations?

Or - do you think there is something better for developing her co-ordination? She already uses her brothers scooter.

Get a balance bike :)

I was worried someone would say that! we bought one for DS - used once. Gave it to nephew - he cried after using it once. Ended up on ebay!

Also, I am a little concerned at the speed they can pick up on a balance bike (obv not my boys but kids I've seen in the park) - i thought a pedal trike might slow her down!

No balance bike really is the way to go sorry...

Or get a mini micro scooter and close your eyes!

sigh...

any recommendations on a balance bike then? the one we got ds was wooden and felt quite heavy. would a lightweight one be better?

Second the balance bike, we had the ridgeback scoot which was fab (went straight to peddle bike with no stabilisers ), we got that at 2
If not there is some nice ones on here... www.fun4kids.co.uk/bikes-ride-ons/kids-trikes-tricycles.html

I say get a balance bike too Smile

wonkylegs · 08/06/2012 22:03

It's lightweight and brilliant

If you go for a balance bike then make sure you get one with a brake.
We had a puky. Was excellent. But they'd started charging silly prices last time I looked.

EverybodysSleepyEyed · 09/06/2012 20:06

they are pricey - i half expect her to hop on ds' bike and ride off sometimes!

i'll have a search for a lightweight balance bike with a brake

no one have a trike to suggest?
