DS's 7th birthday imminently and he doesn't even really know! Is this v. odd?

My DS has always been a bit of a daydreamer and may be dyslexic or similar (not sure yet, will prob be tested this year) but me & DP can't believe he still doesn't know when his birthday is and isn't excited because he has so little concept of time. He's not unhappy and we know he'll love his presents. But we remember counting down the days at that age! Same with Christmas - "DS do you know what's happening tomorrow?" "ummm... Is it the weekend?" (etc.)

Has anyone else had this with their DC and should we worry? He is clever in many ways, articulate and funny. But just so vague and detached from reality.

Ds1 (16) has always been a bit like this. He just isn't particularly interested in celebrations. He enjoys getting something he has specifically asked for but pretty much ignores everything else. He's not one for Christmas preparations either. Ds3 - almost 6 is much the same.

Ds2 (15) starts the countdown months in advance!

Thanks jubilee - that's reassuring. It's celebrations/special dates, but also on a smaller timescale - he doesn't know what time of day it is or whether he's had lunch etc!
