DS is nearly three and although he ate most foods as a baby he gradually grew fussier as he got older. I now suspect that a lot of his issues are to do with texture as sometimes he will put something in his mouth, say yum but then gag and take it back out. He doesn't seem to like having to chew. Things have gradually got worse since he had a sickness bug. he used to eat fish pie and shepherds pie but now gags at the sight of them.
These are foods he will always eat:

Jacket potato with beans or cheese. Will not eat cheese on its own.
Beans
Peas
Sweetcorn
Green beans
Carrots
Fish
Chicken if mushed up into small pieces.
Egg if mixed with beans
Mash potato
Toast with peanut butter. Won't eat untoasted bread.
Pizza, chips, garlic bread (great)
Banana
Apples
Raisins
Crisps and biscuits if given half a chance.
Some soups
Boiled potatoes

That's about it.

Argh, pressed return too soon.
He won't eat much in the way of fruit but will have fruit smoothies with strawberries and raspberries.
He drinks gallons of milk and sometimes I think he fills up on that because it is easier. He will also eat yogurt.
I worry what on earth he will eat when he starts nursery in September. He will not eat sandwiches. He may starve.

Please tell me he will grow out of this! I might contact hv but not sure what I can do apart from offer new foods. Which he will try to be fair but usually gags and then won't try again.

No advice really but that doesn't seem like a bad list. He eats fish and chicken and veg and some fruits and dairy. Sounds fine imo.

My DD is 23mo and won't eat sandwiches either. Lunches would be much easier if she would but we get by with soups and bread to dip in, sausage rolls, pancakes with mashed banana, fruit bread, fruit salad, yoghurt, etc.

Will your ds eat pasta? So many options with pasta.

Does he eat fortified cereals, like weetabix or ready brek, for breakfast?

Won't eat pasta. I have tried and tried. In fact it is one of the main foods which causes him to gag. Then he spits it out. Would make life easier if he would!

Occasionally he will eat bran flakes, he will eat cereal bars like special k so sometimes has those as a snack.
It just isn't much variety and if we go out for lunch he ends up with a baked potato usually!
He will eat fruit bread so sometimes has that at lunch or beans on toast. Occasionally mini homemade pizza, which is his favourite.

I am Envy at that list! My DD (2.8) has reduced her intake to fishfingers and beans and that's about it! Turned away the previously beloved pasta and pesto today Sad. Your DS is doing brilliantly!

I think the list is good too. DS is 2.2 and has been an ok eater not great not terrible (about the range you have on your list) but is just limiting himself more and more right now :( It's so frustrating. I wouldn't worry if I were you.
