Hello, just wanted to do a quick straw poll really. It seems that dd1 just doesn't need that much sleep, we ensure she is in bed by 8 at the latest but she is usually not actually asleep until 8.30, tonight it was after 9. She us awake before 6.30 every morning. Most of my friends kids of similar age (just turned 5) seem to go to bed earlier and wake up later. She's not a particularly active child so I wonder if she's just not that physically tired, but I do think she gets mentally tired. How much sleep do your 5 year olds get?

ds is in bed for 8pm during the week and is normally up by 6.30 am as he needs to pee!

My 6 yr old generally sleeps from 7.30 til 6 ( or 5.30 if we are really unlikely). He is exhausted at the end of the day from such early starts but if we put him to bed later he still wakes up at the crack of dawn.

I've had 2 that loved their sleep and 2 that needed very little!

dd1 is 5.6 and sleeps 7.30 till 7ish. She is a very active and very tired child though.

So this morning she was wide awake from 5.15. That's just 8 hours sleep!
