Sleep regression when starting to walk?

My dd has been sleeping even worse than usual over the past 2-3 weeks (every 40 mins, sometimes less). She took her first steps last week, and is now happily toddling around after me.

Are the two things related do you think? She has always been a bad sleeper, but she had got a bit better. I need reassurance this is just another phase!

We've found with ds3 (16m), he has a sleep regression every time he's about to start something new - walking, saying new words etc.

We now find sleep regressions quite exciting because we wonder what he's going to do next.
(we're still knackered though!)

In my experience this is totally normal. I expect it at every milestone with my DD now. Currently we're in bartering territory now she's grasped the concept of exchange! All fun and games...

Perservere and be consistent, this too shall pass Smile.

I thought that might be the case. She is only 11months old, and seems to have bad endless growth spurts, developmental leaps and teething pains so far - each of which keeps her awake. I think they've all merged together since she was about 3 months old to form one big regression- it was only about a month or so ago I saw a marked improvement (waking twice or even just once!).

Oh well - we'll just have to ride with it. Bit of a pain that I am returning to work next week - in going to be a complete zombie! SadSad
