not enough s.a.l.t

hi my ds2 is 5.6 non verbal ,the salt comes in to school once a week to advise school ,i dont think its enough atm what else can i push for who do i ask etc its breaking my heart not hearing him talk :(

Oh I really feel for you. You are doing the right thing raising the question though.

My advice would be to get in touch with the SALT. If you don't know the name then ask school for the name and number. The therapists have a duty to ensure you know what input your son is getting and why. Also you should get some written report or letter regularly updating you. If the reason is something to do with staffing don't just accept it write to the SALT manager.

You can also ask about what you can do at home to help with therapy, support from home increases the benefit of therapy.

If you don't feel satisfied with the outcome of your discussion put it in writing to the manager. I will say though there are times where having a break from therapy are reccommended to help consolidate skills but you need to be made aware of that not left wondering.
