DD not eating :(

my DD (21 months) has decided not to eat any thing. it started of just going off simple plain foods like potatoes - chips, waffles etc. wasnt a problem as its not often i cook this. but now she has eaten a meal for a week.

I manage to get porridge/weetabix in her for breakfast, ive tried sanwiches, toast, cocktail sausages, cheese, cucumber, ravioli, spaghetti.....for lucnh options! the only thing she will eat is grapes at lunch, she loves them but they give her loose stools. she will also eat a little yogurt or small jelly.

for dinner i cook meals like chicken chaseur, chilli-con-carne, bolognes, sausage pasta, roast, chicken with red pesto/mascopone sauce, jacket potato, macaroni cheese, shepards pie. she used to eat theese meals without a fuss and i do plenty of dinners so kids dont get bored of same stuff. for the last few weeks she has refused to eat luch or dinner and im struggling with ideas or how to help her. DD isnt offered lots of sweets or snacks in between meals she will usually have an apple, banana or grapes after lunch.

DD has never liked rice, just spits it straight back out and she's not a great fan of mince - why i try it in different ways bolognes, shepards pie etc.
she has been really tired lately and im worried she is running out of fuel! :(

would really appreciate some advice or ideas. thanks

I suspect you just have to wait her out Sad I know how hard it is when they stop eating, but in time she will come back from it. I found it incredibly stressful tho...so do try to put as little pressure on yourself as possible. It is a normal toddler phase...but a horrible one!

hi

how long did you wait it out? she's just slowly gone off everything over a month or so. yes its very stressfull and she's so lively i dont know what she's running on!

I remember my ds going off food when he was about 2yrs old but only an ingredient like beens or onions.... not every thing :(

Is she well? Sounds obvious, but a friends child suddenly went off food and he has a really sore throat caused by thrush. Have you looked in her mouth/throat? It sounds like she is favouring soft/sweet foods which might just be because she likes them or maybe because they are easy to eat.

sc2987 thanks looks great.

beamur - she is full of beans! have just checked her mouth and cant see any problems in there. she does get a sore throat alot, im always taking her docs and they keep saying there's nothing there! will take her again and explain she aint eating and to check again.

she's quite lively although today she had 2.5 hrs nap midday, did try to wake her but she fell back to sleep, then was back to sleep at 7.30pm not like her to sleep so long. if she overslept during the day she wouldnt sleep until at least 9-10pm.
