Can you recommend a really thin sleeping bag for a toddler?

Hi all!

It may sound like a silly question but I need to know where I can get a really thin sleeping bag?

I have used dream bag before but their 0.5 tog is the same thickness as grobag's 1 tog IMO.

My 22 month old DS's room is too hot at the moment to put him in his gro 1 tog bag but I can't leave him out of a sleeping bag as he keeps putting his leg through the bars of the cot and keeps getting it stuck! Oh and he is doing this on purpose for attention. The last time he'd managed to get most of his leg through and his knee which I then couldn't get back through the bars. We had to cover him in baby oil and the manipulate his leg for about 10 mins before we got it out. He keeps shouting "stuck" over the monitor so I run up there to find him half heartily dangling his foot out of the bars whilst grinning at me, the little monkey.

So basically I need a very very thin sleeping bag that I can put him in.

Has anyone got any suggestions? I've just seen that gro do actually do a 0.5 tog. Can anyone tell me if it really is thin before I order one as they are a bit pricey? Or perhaps I could make my own out of thin fabric but that would be a bit risky as my sewing skills are awful!

Oh BTW I can't make the move to the big bed yet as we are currently living with my mum and her stairs are an awkward shape so we can't put stair gates in. I am moving to my own place next month.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Aden + Anaïs also do one, but pricy....

JoJoMamanBebe do a 'sheet sleeping bag' which is less than 0.5 tog.

Holly66 · 25/05/2012 21:28

The grobag 0.5 tog is just like a sheet thickness.

I had 0.5 and it was like a sheet. In fact I still may have it- will go and have a look

happywheezer · 25/05/2012 21:30

They are like a sheet, you are right janx

Holly66 · 25/05/2012 21:35

Thanks everyone. I just wanted to check before I ordered one as I was a bit disappointed when I bought a dream bag 0.5 tog that turned out to be the same thickness as a 1 tog Gro bag.

Sew a vest to a pillowcase?

Frakiosaurus · 25/05/2012 21:36

The Aden + Anaïs ones are a single layer of muslin :)

Holly66 - have a look in TK Maxx too - they quite often have end of line Gro-bags in for about half the retail price.

Alternatively, if 0.5 is really sheet thickness - you could probably sew him one from an old cot sheet or pillow case and use iron-on velcro at the shoulders for fastening.
