spitting out food! driving me mad!

my 18 month old is spitting out her food, it used to be when she was finished but now she just does it for the sake of it! i take away whatever she was eating hoping this will discourage her from doing it but she doesnt care so having no effect!! it really bugs me she's doing this and really want her to stop but dont know what to do!! any suggestions greatly appreciated

That sounds exactly like my 18mo DD! I figured there's nothing I can do yet cos she's too little and we'll deal with it later if she hasn't grown out of it. Just wish it was easy to stop 3yo DS from copying her... taking away his food definitely works though!

My daughter went through a phase of this after she tasted something she didn't like and spat out a mouthful of food into my hand...lovely!

I just ignored it, pretended it wasn't happening and she stopped after a few days of that.
