Pigeon Toes

DD (pfb) is 15 months and has been walking since her first birthday. DH and I have both noticed she walks with pigeon toes, just obviously. Both of her toes point in but one seems worse than the other. She does it when wearing shoes and bare foot.

DMs friend is (or used to be a) hv and told DM to sit DD on her lap, pull out her legs and if they turned inwards when her legs were straight naturally this is the basic test - we did this and, yes, she does.

I'm wondering whether to see the GP or hv or do nothing. I've read online and some places say not to do anything until DC has been walking 9 months. I don't want to make a fuss over nothing but equally if DD would need shoe inserts or anything I don't want to prologue this.

FWIW DH also has what appears to be pigeon toes only has never been diagnosed or treated.

Any advice appreciated

Hey Reastie it's normal to have pigeon toes at their age. They all do! They all have flat feet too.

. Phew, as my Mum picked up on it before me and made me really Hmm Confused thinking DD would need some kind of therapy or something

No, I doubt it! They'll check her for definite at her two year check - I remember the HV checking DD1 to make sure she didn't walk on tiptoe etc.

DD2 isn't even walking properly yet! She takes three steps then falls over :o. It's like her feet are too small for her body (they're not - she's just daft!)

My dd does this too - left foot is more obviously turned in. My hv said as long as not affecting walking not to worry as normally straightens out. I also had it when young and remember having inserts in my shoes at school (which I took out when I got there!) My feet seem fine now and I only fall over after one too many sherries!
