6mth old just chewed surface off a baby nail file. not sure how much actally went down before i realised what he was up to.

aren't nail files basically sandpaper, and isn't that glass?

he now has dribbly hiccups but otherwise seems fine.

erm, help? :-(

That's a new one. You may be better off calling NHS direct, they will be able to help. IIRC, they are sand and paper, not glass. You need to google this though (would be wise to google before calling NHS direct).

My 2 yr old is always chewing nail files. He says he likes the smell.

It's not something that I thought I needed to keep away from him before. But I do now.

I've never done anything about it. I usually catch him before he eats it and they're chewed.

thanks... i did a bit of googling and didn't see anything that really troubled me. He still seems absolutely fine and normal. phoned husband who is very calm, says all children eat sand at the seaside, and that it's fine...
