15 month old is clingier than a clingy Klingon.

Help! DS has become so clingy recently. The last 2 weeks or so he's been waking any time between 11pm and 3am and I bring him into bed with us; how quickly I do this depends on the time!

He's getting the 4th premolar and has had a couple of colds (which I still have - joy). We attend two groups a week and he's basically clinging to me for 40 minutes and then enjoying-ish the last bit of the class. We went to the park and he held onto me the whole time, wouldn't go on the swings or walk around at all. He doesn't want to walk down the road, has to be carried. At home he basically wants to be inside my skin :o

Oh, and his eating's a bit rubbish too, except for breakfast.

I hope that this and the sleep issue is basically developmental as he's learning so much right now, everyday he's doing new things. Should I be doing anything to stop this or just go with it?

I have a 15month old and shes going through the same thing :)

You are not alone! I was going to start a similar thread about my 18 month DS4 who had become a klingon too. Howls when I just get up, before I've even left the room. I am putting it down to teething too. So just hoping it will pass. Tis becoming a bit of a pain.

ObviouslyOblivious · 14/05/2012 20:42

It certainly is a pain isn't it! Let's form a support group :o

I have one too! I sling her a lot of the time to free up my arms and think about how she's going to be when she's 15 and won't string more than two words to me. I'm just trying to enjoy it.

ObviouslyOblivious · 14/05/2012 20:52

I am enjoying the cuddles I must admit. But it'd be nice to walk across the kitchen on my own! Good idea to resurrect the sling

yes me too but my dd is veering towards 16 months now and iy seems less intense,I find if i stop what im doing and sit with her she gets bored and wanders off again so i can get on for a bit.

k2togm1 · 14/05/2012 21:47

Oooh was wondering whether to ask something similar! ds is 14 mo and would also like to somehow get under my skin again... So is it a normal stage?
Have tried the sling as well, but he is almost 13 kg soo can't really use it for long periods anymore.

ObviouslyOblivious · 14/05/2012 22:00

OOH so ledkr maybe we're at the peak then and things can only get better, as DS is 15.5 months?

DS1 was just like this, clung to me all the time and I despaired to think that he would never become independent.

Now he is 22 and his favourite hobby is travelling. He is never in the house, but travels every day on buses and trains. He has learning difficulties and can't get a job (which is another issue), but you can't fault him for independence!

I have a 'velcro-boy'. I hate to tell you but he is still like this now, but improving. He is 5.6.
