DS (aged 4) has been referred for one to one speech therapy. Have been trying to get him referred for 2 years, finally they are taking me seriously!! You can understand him if you are really listening but they have told me they don't know where to start with his therapy at the moment and will let me know. Anyone with similar experiences?

Just read your thread and my experience with ds(4)is quite similar.

I had concerns about his speech from age 2 but he had to have hearing tests first then he was assessed and i was told he didn't need immediate referal and they would assess again later. He was seen again and told that his attention span etc was not good enough to start speech therapy.
Evevntually when he was almost 4 they began to see him on an almost regular basis. As in every 2 weeks at nursery.

It seemed to take forever to get him started but they do need to assess where the problems are and work it out from there. Probably not much help to you but i can understand your frustration.

Thanks for that and am so glad to hear that your ds is now doing well.

Its the waiting for the appointments that is so frustrating.
