How good are the phone help lines?

My wife and I are at a bit of dead end trying to reduce angry outbursts from our four year old and work to reduce the degree to which he expresses anger and frustration using violence. We have tried a very wide range of techniques and I have posted on here from time to time and received useful advice. I was just wondering whether free phone help lines are any use when you are looking for parenting advice? Don't particularly want to go to GP yet. What about Family Lives parentline? Any good? Any other sources of free parenting advice?

In your case you might like to try Young Minds parents' helpline, they deal with ADHD, young children's mental health and wellbeing, that sort of thing - you speak to a counsellor straight away and they don't just listen, they give practical advice - really great charity:
