At a playdate the other day and DS bit another boy for the second time in the two years we've been having playdates. I did naughty step, apologised profusely, but mother very upset. Texted me a picture of bruise that evening saying how shocked she was, and when I phoned to apologise again she suggested I seek professional help and told me I'd need to be very careful with my baby (am 8 months pregnant). Do I have playdates here again? Am I being too lenient...what other measures do I take?? I have spoken to health visitors in past etc about behaviour and it's getting a lot better, but I feel like our relationship wouldn't survive another incident, so I'm just going to avoid from now on...advice appreciated!!

I think it's quite common for toddlers to bite, mine does occasionally and is told off just like yours. You don't need professional help, just keep tackling the bad behaviour and eventually it will pass.
Your friend sounds a bit precious!

Ok, biting isn't nice but your friend has completely over reacted! You will, however, have to watch your DS like a hawk from now on. Wink Obviously a 2 year old has little or no self control and strong impulses. My DD went though a phase of this when she was about this age, interestingly she only did it to people she was close to...

You chastised him in front of her and did the right thing. What an overreaction! My DS has come home from nursery with one or two bites it's not pleasant or acceptable, but I know it is normal for pre vocal kids.
