I moved both of my children on to progress when they reached 6 months. I found it was cheaper than sma gold as well which was an added bonus.

It's a gimmick. There's no need for follow-on milk, particularly if she's doing well on the milk she's been having up until now.

i asked my health visitor whether i should get her on to follow on milk. she said theres no need to if shes happy on sma gold. so im keeping her on that. she seems content enough on it, so why change?

ZoeC · 11/02/2006 20:02

no need either way, but you get reward points on follow-on and they can promote and offer discounts on it.

JennyLee · 11/02/2006 20:39

it is a Gimmick

MerlinsBeard · 11/02/2006 20:41

no real reason to change, i did because its cheaper and also they are allowed to do offers on follow on milk like money off.

LilacBump · 11/02/2006 20:41

i don't know if there is any difference, but we switched because progress was cheaper...

Seona1973 · 12/02/2006 13:21

Another one who switched cos it was cheaper (it was 2 tins for £9 when I switched.....bargain!!)

someone on mn told me (i think it was the wise tiktok) that the follow on milk has more iron, amongst other things, and this can make baby constipated. so stick with the gold IMO

muma3 · 12/02/2006 14:11

i have changed to follow on milk ( farleys ) due to it being 2 tins for £8 but also because apparently babies start to run out of there natural iron store that they have from birth at around 6 months old that is why they add extra iron to follow on milk . i believe everything and it hasnt made her constipated imo she enjoys it more !!

muma3 · 12/02/2006 14:13

isnt there another milk after gold for hungrier babies ? could you not try that one if your baby not happy?

nailpolish · 12/02/2006 14:17

is it not sma white? could be wrong though.

and re the iron, you can introduce it into the diet, bit of spinach here and there, etc, if baby is 6 mths
