No height growth in 3.5 months (16mo old)

Hi

I measured my 16.5mo DS yesterday just out of curiosity, and it seems that he hasn't grown AT ALL in height since I measured him at 13mo.

He's put on weight, but not a lot.

He's a very healthy boy, developing normally in terms of speech and motor skills etc, very sociable, eats quite well, not clingy or particularly precious about anything.

Should I take him down the docs?

Thanks... not sure what to think!

I had stopped weighing and measuring DD by that age, but she was in the same size clothes from the age of 9 months to 18 months, after jumping up a clothes size every few weeks until then. Speaking to other friends, it seems pretty common. I personally wouldn't worry if he is happy and healthy Smile

Children's rate of growth slows down considerably into the second year. I measured my DS, also 16 months and he has only grown 4cm since 9 months. He was only measured at birth and at 9 months by HV. Height is not as important as weight when it comes to identifying problems and usually only if weight gain is abnormal then height can be taken into consideration along with other development aspects. I wouldn't worry about it, it sounds completely normal to me x

DD grew like a weed from birth to 6 months (wearing 6 month clothes at 3 months), then practically stopped. She's now almost 12 months and still wearing stuff that wasn't exactly baggy in October.

Seems happy enough though. Perky, sociable, active etc.

Anyway, what can you do except tie them to a rack every night and give them a good crank?

I dont think you should worry since he is eating well.
My DD only grew 1.8cm from 15m to 20m.

ok, ok. I'll stop worrying. Just thought it was a little odd. Thanks guys.
